I blame Bourdain, he made cooking sound so cool to a 13 yro, maybe that book should come with a warning. I found it as a creative outlet, it has taken me around the world but I struggle for inspiration all the time. Fishing and foraging is what keeps me cooking as i love the connection to food

Well, it could be a couple of things, #1 your body chemistry allows you to get drunk on very little so your body does not have to react to all the toxins, #2 you drink enough that there is always alcohol in your system and you do not suffer withdrawl, #3 you drink regularily enough that feeling poorly is the norm, maybe you do have a hangover and you don't even realize it.

As I don't drink anymore I can only reply from memory, as I recall, a bottle of commercially produced beer usually has a shelf life of six months or less, after that the beer loses it's carbonation and tastes pretty bad. Home brews and microbrews and those made without any preservatives will last even less time.

Personally I would tend to go with a coffee, or perhaps a juice, but since are asking about after bar hours I would guess that you mean a drink including alcohol so my suggestion is not to mix your beverages too much. When I was a drinker, after hours I would usually continue with whatever had been my beverage of choice that night, for a nice relaxing night at home with some friends I would suggest some wine, late in the evening a brandy or cognac, that way you are not mixing your grain and grapes.
